This is not a real post. This is a pre-post. For one thing, I've been customizing and editing all kinds of things on here but had no actual entry to look at to see how it all added up. And for another, I'm bored. I still haven't decided on which day I should write every week. And it is a key element. I'm kinda stealing Kate's ideas with "Wordless Wednesday" etc by trying to think of a certain day that is kind of alliterative for entry posts. I'm learning towards Tuesdays...or Thursdays. I like T's. It's either "Tune-In Tuesday" (which I rather enjoy) or "Thursday Thoughts".
I am starting this blog as part of a News Years resolution. And yes, I am aware that today was the first of December. So I'm a month ahead of time (errr... I wrote all my resolutions more than a week ago when I couldn't sleep). I've always kind of wanted to become a writer. My Grandma writes a column in the local paper. My mom has ideas for a children's book. I think it's in my blood. Now a blog is certainly no master novel but it gets me to write. It gets the thoughts out of my brain and into the world. Anyway I guess i'll put my forementioned resolution list as a closer here. It may get edited and added to but I think it's a darn good list (if a little sappy at the end). At least its reasonable (I've realized most people fail at their resolutions becuase they don't make specific realistic goals.)
1) Start a blog! -Hey I'm off to a pretty good start already.
-Write in it once a week at least (I'm feelin' Tune In Tuesday a lot)
2) Become fluent in german. -Last year I made it a goal to "become more fluent in languages I know some of" and that flopped. It was not specific enough. The most I did for it was buy some language software with a ton of languages on it. This year I'm focusing in on the one I know pretty much the most of. Plus I've made it a weekly ritual with the specifics which are:
-Learn one new phrase or set of words (numbers foods etc) a week each Sunday and practice it all week long.
3) Expand english vocabularly. - I have a decent vocabulary but I love new words. And If I'm gonna learn a whole new language I better be darn good at my own. And I plan on doing this by:
-Learn one new word a week on Sunday and use it all week long. -I plan to bring this around to my previous resolution again by:
-Also learn that word in german.
4) Take up Yoga. -I have been trying to do this for years and I don't know why I've never taken to it. But this year is different. I've asked for a yoga mat for xmas. And If I'm at shanes the spare room or living room have plenty of space to stretch in. None the less it will happen because:
-Practice twice a week in the morning on days off from work.
5) Exercise. -This is the only one on the list I think might crash and burn. It's a bit more strenuous and it goes beyond yoga (even though i know that is exercise as well) This is more strength or cardio. I plan to tackle this by:
- Alternate the two days off after yoga with jogging and strength training. -I feel if I'm at Shane's the road in front of his house is long enough to jog down and not feel uncomfortable because it is secluded. Strength may not be lifting weights but more of just muscle building; crunches, push ups etc.
6) Learn Guitar. - I have the darn thing I better have it for a reason. But again I need to "force" myself:
-Monday:Music Day -learn something new on guitar each Monday.
7) Organize your life. - this one is more a 3 month trial than a full year but theres a reason. I plan to move in with Shane sometime in March. I have lived in this house my entire life. That is a lot of stuff accumulated. So I have to sort it all out for the move. I have a deadline so it makes it much more likely to happen. and everything I decided I don't need (which I feel will be a lot) is going into a yard sale we're having that April. It's a must!
8) Read at least 12 books a year. -This is a goal every year. I'm pretty good at it. And it's totally worth it.
9) Have $15,000 saved by end of year. -I don't honestly know what I'm saving it for. And many have asked me why not use it and have fun now but it's a thing about me. Maybe it's a wedding fund or a kids fund. It's a future fund is all that matters and I have fun now none the less.
- And no worries I'm pretty close to that already I might have to up the amount.
10) Take every day as a beautiful gift. Do not worry about the past or future. -What can I say I'm a worrier.
11) Experience new things. Foods, Places, Activities, People. -Hey, it will give me something to write about.
how INSPIRING! I love how well thought out they all are, they truly seem obtainable because you have specific goals and specific ways of reaching them! I particularly like the last two. OH! And the yoga one! I miss doing yoga, Miriam and I used to do the FitTV Namaste Yoga every other morning. LOVED it.
ReplyDeleteI will for sure definitely now begin to make my own list, and steal all of your ideas. Ok, some of your ideas.
